Construction progress expedited
According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoang, Deputy Director of the Management Board of Da Nang Traffic Construction Investment Projects, in April and May 2020, the project’s management board together with contractors focused on accelerating the site clearance progress, and preparing for building machinery, equipment and materials in a prompt fashion in a bid to ensure on-schedule progress.
The municipal government directly urged four specialised departments to appraise the project's design and estimates. However, the construction progress was greatly affected by many objective factors, especially the complicated developments of the pandemic.
After nearly 11 months of construction, only 29% of the construction work on the project was completed, running behind schedule.
To deal with the problem, the project management board asked for permission from the municipal government to focus on building an overpass on September 2 Street instead of a road tunnel.
Additionally, the project contractors deployed full human resources and construction equipment to work 7 days a week with 3 shifts per day to keep progress on track.
As a result, the September 2 Street-located overpass, as part of the under-construction traffic infrastructure project at western end of the Tran Thi Ly Bridge, officially opened to traffic on July 14, 2021. Also since that, project contractors deployed full machinery, equipment and human resources to accelerate the construction of the whole project.
Rushing to complete construction project
On February 21, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee cum Head of the National Assembly Deputies’ delegation Nguyen Van Quang, and Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Le Quang Nam, paid an inspection visit to the construction site of the project.
During his visit, the city Party chief Quang highly praised the project management unit, and construction contractors, for speeding up the progress, basically completing the whole project, and ensuring the smooth traffic flows during Tet.
Also, he spoke highly of construction units for meeting the high requirements of technical and artistic quality, and for new proposals for the project through the addition of landscape investment design in the roundabout area of the road tunnel at the intersection of September 2 - Duy Tan streets.
Following the direction of the city's leader, in the past few days, the management board of the project has focused on creating architectural and landscape highlights for the whole project, as well as ensuring the harmony of between the surrounding landscape and construction works so as to ensure traffic safety and order.
Up to now, the construction of the traffic infrastructure project at the western end of the Tran Thi Ly Bridge has been basically completed, so it is ready to be inaugurated and put into use on March 29 to mark the 47th anniversary of the city's Liberation Day.
