On 11th May 2018, Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, hosted the meeting with the delegation of Daegu Metropolitan City Government led by Mr. Kim Seung-su, Vice Mayor.
In the afternoon of 21st April 2018, as authorized by the city leader, Director of the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Lam Quang Minh, had a meeting with the Oakland delegation (U.S.A.), led by Dr. Henry Chang Jr., Protocol Director of the Mayor’s Office, former Oakland Vice Mayor and President of the Oakland Tennis Association. Participating in the meeting were the representatives of related departments and agencies of the city and Da Nang Port Joint Stock Company.
In the afternoon of 30th April, Mr. Huynh Duc Tho, Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee and Mr. Nguyen Nho Trung, Vice Chairman of Da Nang People’s Council had the meeting with the delegation of Sakai City, Japan, led by Mr. Takeyama Osami, Mayor of Sakai City, and Mr. Nozato Fumimori, Chairman of Sakai City Council, during their official visit and work in Da Nang.
From 26th April to 29th April 2018, Singapore Navy Ship RSS INTREPID made a port call to Da Nang city. The ship visit, which occured about the same time as PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc’ official visit to Singapore, helps to indicate the Strategic Partnership established in 2013 between the two countries growing in depth in various areas. This is also an opportunity to promote Da Nang city to the people of Singapore, paving ways to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between Da Nang and Singapore.
Implementing the “Year of Investment Promotion”, Da Nang leaders sent officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Investment Promotion Centre on a working trip to Korea from 8th to 12th April, with the purpose of strengthening cooperation with Korean localities as well as promoting international events and investment projects to create new tourism products for Da Nang.
On 4th April 2018, the Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, Mr. Huynh Duc Tho had a meeting with the World Bank task team on the implementation progress of the Da Nang Sustainable City Development Project. Participating in the meeting were the leaders of the departments of: Planning and Investment, Transportation, Construction, Finance, Natural Resources and Environment; together with the Project Management Unit and Consultant Board.
From 25th February to 3rd March 2018, a Da Nang delegation went to Japan to attend the workshop on Accelerating the Transformation Towards Sustainable Low-carbon and Resilient Cities in Asia at the invitation of the Japanese partner.
After its success in 2016 and 2017, Taste of Australia 2018 will be held from 29th March to 22nd April with many culinary and cultural exchange activities in many provinces and cities of Viet Nam.
On 19th March 2018, the Da Nang People's Committee held a scientific workshop on the "Socio-economic development orientation of Da Nang up to 2035" with the aim of identifying issues in the development process of Da Nang to plan the city's socio-economic development orientation until 2035. The attendees included key leaders of Da Nang City, districts and departments together with a large number of experts and scientists as well as members of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Group.
With the nearly 60-year history associated with Da Nang City, Quan The Am 19/2 - Ngu Hanh Son Festival (Avalokitasvara or Goddess of Mercy Festival, occurring in the Marble Mountains on 19th of the second month in the Lunar calendar) has become a typical spiritual splendor of the city, being a sacred place to meet the spiritual needs of Buddhists and local people, as well as contributing to the preservation of traditional folklore. The ever-continuing expansion of the Festival has drawn more attention of domestic and foreign participants and especially support from international Buddhists.
