The main conference, which was on the second day, was held with the attendance of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, leaders of ministries and central governmental agencies, and leaders of Da Nang City.
Da Nang Party Secretary Truong Quang Nghia opened the conference with an overview of Da Nang, highlighting the role of the city as the engine for economic growth in the Central Region. He expected the conference participants, especially future investors, to not only be more aware of investment opportunities in the city, but also to propose solutions to city leaders the that will help to remove barriers and obstacles during the investment process.
Da Nang City brought to the conferences several packaged projects calling for investment, under ODA, PPP, and FDI types. The prioritized areas for such investment include infrastructure development, environment, high-tech industries, ICT, education, healthcare, tourism-properties and hi-tech applied agriculture. Projects in the sectors of high tech, ICT, supportive industries, start-up, etc. will enjoy favorable incentives offered by the city authorities.
After the remarks by the leaders of Da Nang City, the guest speakers, including Chief Representative of JETRO Ha Noi, Executive Director of EuroCham in Ha Noi, KPMG Chief Representative Office in Viet Nam gave their speeches reaffirming their efforts to connect more and more foreign investors to Da Nang. Especially, in the speech by Ms. Mary Tarnowka, U.S. Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, she mentioned that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, would visit Da Nang next month for APEC. The United States will endeavor to improve the trade and investment relationship with Viet Nam and the city of Da Nang.
Existing domestic and foreign investors, including SunGroup, Empire and Sembcorp also took turns to voice about their experience in doing business in the city.
Following the speeches of the guest speakers, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc took the stage. In his speech, he said Da Nang has big potential to be an important city like Ha Noi or Ho Chi Minh City. At the same time, Da Nang can be an environmentally friendly city or the center of the Hi-tech industry for the Central Region of Viet Nam.
After the Forum, participants chose to join a field trip to planned and ongoing project sites or golf and tennis friendship tournaments. They obtained in-depth insights on Da Nang's economy, infrastructure, strategic growth industries, incentives and regulatory initiatives.
