Da Nang Organizes Workshops on the Socio-Economic Development Orientation of the City
On 19th March 2018, the Da Nang People's Committee held a scientific workshop on the "Socio-economic development orientation of Da Nang up to 2035" with the aim of identifying issues in the development process of Da Nang to plan the city's socio-economic development orientation until 2035. The attendees included key leaders of Da Nang City, districts and departments together with a large number of experts and scientists as well as members of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Group.
According to many specialists, Da Nang will face challenges that many big cities have already encountered if it does not start changing from now. For example, although Da Nang's indicators for the investment environment are ranked first nationwide, the investment into the city is still inadequate. Additionally, though tourism is an important service sector with high output and rapid growth, it has no significant impact on other economic sectors. The management and use of urban land have caused some contradictions with the goal of building an "environmental city".

At the workshop, the delegates also agreed with a group of solutions to create motivation for the development of Da Nang, including the establishment of an inter-disciplinary coordination mechanism; the construction of an innovative urban area integrated with hi-tech zones so that Da Nang can develop towards a creativity and start-up center; the development of information technology industry combined with the building of the digital economy; and the foundation of a logistics center with two major infrastructure systems including Da Nang seaport cluster and Da Nang International Airport.
