On 13th April 2017, the Da Nang Department of Health (DOH) in cooperation with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Family Health International (FHI 360) and Programme for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH)/the United States in Viet Nam organised a workshop within the framework of the "Human Milk Bank in Da Nang City" Project in the Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children (DHWC) to share initial results and experiences in implementation of the human milk bank model in Da Nang City.
In the afternoon of 11th April 2017, Mrs. Xi Hui, new Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Da Nang, met and greeted the leaders of the People's Council, the People's Committee, and the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee in Da Nang on the occasion of her inauguration. Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee, Huynh Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of the People's Council, Nguyen Nho Trung, and Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee in Da Nang, Dang Thi Kim Lien, had a friendly reception with the Consul General.
In the afternoon of 8th April 2017, Tuong Lai Special School, Da Nang City, in collaboration with Samaritan's Purse International Relief Vietnam (SPIR), from the U.S.A., to organise the Closing Ceremony of the "Provide day-boarding and vocational training equipment for Tuong Lai Special School (1st Branch)" Project (2016 - 2017) sponsored by SPIR.
In March 2014, the Da Nang People's Committee approved the “Technical Assistance for Decentralised Wastewater Treatment Systems (DEWATS)" project funded by the Bremen Overseas Research and Development Association - BORDA) of Germany and the Viet Nam Institute for Water Resources Research. The project has been piloted at Ms. Le Thi Tich’s household in Hoa Tien Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang City.
On 5th April, Mr. Tran Van Mien, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee had a meeting with the delegation of Monbetsu city, Japan, led by Mr. Tanahashi Kazuhiko, Deputy Mayor of the city. Attending the meeting were leaders of relevant departments of the two cities. Both sides exchanged their views on tourism development as well as experience in the fields of agriculture, forestry, fishery, and education promotion.
In the afternoon of 2ndApril 2017, the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, Ho Ky Minh, had a meeting with Major General Steven R. Rudder, Director of Strategic Planning and Policy, U.S.Pacific Command on the occasion of his business trip in Da Nang. Ms. Mary Tarnowka,Consul General of the United States in Ho Chi Minh City and Colonel Tuan T. Ton, DefenseAttaché of the United States in Viet Nam also attended the meeting.
Recently, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, together with representatives of different departments played host to a delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Viet Nam, led by Mr. Eric Sidgwick, Country Director.
On the occasion of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's official visit to Viet Nam in the morning of 24th March2017 in Ha Noi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Da Nang City, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Anh, met Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to discuss the cooperation status between Da Nang and Singapore’s partners in the fields of investment, tourism and education. Attending the meeting were Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Vice Chairman of People's Committee, and representatives of some relevant departments of the city.
The Quan The Am – Marble Mountains Festival was successfully held from 14th to 16th March (corresponding to 17th to 19th February, Lunar Calendar). One of the most vital factors contributing to the success of the Festival was the unique cultural art performances by famous artists from the Land of Cherry Blossoms – Japan. The Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs accomplished its mission to support Japanese artists during this event.
In 2016, Giving It Back To Kids (GIBTK) and VinaCapital Foundation (VCF)/ United States continue to support the cost of cardiac surgeries for disadvantaged children with congenital heart disease in Da Nang.
