Ceremony to Mark the Success of First Phase of Project on Remediation of Dioxin Contamination at Da Nang Airport

In the afternoon of 3rd May 2016, Ministry of National Defence and United States Agency for International Development (USAID) organised the Ceremony to mark the success of the first phase of the project on Remediation of Dioxin Contamination at Da Nang Airport. In attendance at the Ceremony were Mr. Vu Duc Dam, the Vice Prime Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, the Vice Minister of the Ministry of National Defence, Mr. Ho Ky Minh, the Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, and Mr. Ted Osius, the United States Ambassador to Viet Nam.

At the Ceremony, Mr. Vu Duc Dam, the Vice Prime Minister, highly appreciated the cooperation between Viet Nam and the United States in solving the war's consequences, aiming towards the bright future between the two countries. "The project shows how much we can accomplish in the spirit of friendship and mutual respect" said Mr. Ted Osius.

The first phase of Project on Remediation of Dioxin Contamination at Da Nang Airport which was implemented from August 2012 helped to remediate 45,000m3 of contaminated soil. After remediating, the soil would be handed over to Viet Nam Airlines Corporation to build the runway and parking area at Da Nang Airport.
