Sakai City Continues to Join the Japan – Viet Nam Cultural Exchange Festival 2017
On 23rd February 2017, Mr. Lam Quang Minh, the Director of the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs, had a meeting with Mr. Nobuyuki Sakaya, the Chief of the ASEAN Relation Promotion Division, the International Cooperation Board of the Sakai Tourism Culture Department in order to discuss activities within the framework of the Japan – Viet Nam Cultural Exchange Festival 2017 (the Festival).
At the meeting, Mr. Lam Quang Minh welcomed and highly appreciated the kind support and great contributions of Mr. Nobuyuki Sakaya as well as Sakai City to the Festival in Da Nang since 2015. Mr. Lam also expressed his special impression of the performances from the Suzume folk dance group, and he also pointed out that these performances were of great importance for the success of the Festival.
Mr. Sakaya congratulated the success of the Festival over the past years, and concluded that the Festival was always an important "bridge" to strengthen the friendship between Vietnamese and Japanese people in general and between the two cities' citizens in particular. He promised that Sakai would be willing to send more traditional dance crews and Japanese tea ceremony artists to participate in the Festival this year, and expressed his desire to invite Da Nang City to join in the Vietnamese Cultural Festival in Sakai in October 2017.
Da Nang and Sakai officially signed The Memorandum of Friendship and Cooperation on 20th February 2009. Sakai is the second largest city of Osaka Prefecture, one of the most important ports of Japan.
