Continuing Support for Development Projects from Asian Development Bank (ADB)

Recently, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, together with representatives of different departments played host to a delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Viet Nam, led by Mr. Eric Sidgwick, Country Director.

 

 

During his recent reception for the ADB delegation, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan briefed the delegation on the situation of cooperation between the two sides. He stated that the Partnership Strategy (2016-2020) for Viet Nam had been approved by the ADB Board of Governors by the end of September 2016. According to this strategy, ADB promised to support three priority fields of Vietnamese Government including (i) enhancing job creation and competiveness, (ii) strengthening coverage of infrastructure and service provision and (iii) improving environmental sustainability and response to climate change. Especially, ADB proposed to make the most of sources of private finance to invest in development and innovation projects in Viet Nam.

 

The Vice Chairman thanked the ABD for its great assistance as well as the information and suggestions the Country Director shared in the meeting. On this occasion, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan also informed them about some remarkable achievements that Da Nang had made and expressed his desire to cooperate with ADB more closely in some development projects of the city.

 

Many problems related to the railway station relocation project and urban innovation project which was expected to deploy in Da Nang in the near future were also discussed by the two sides. The Da Nang People's Committee assigned the Planning and Investment Department as the focal point to coordinate with departments to promote and implement the projects mentioned above./.
