From 3rd to 13th November 2017, the delegation of the University of Nagasaki, led by Dr. Satomi Iwashige, International Management Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, the University of Nagasaki, visited Da Nang City in order to promote education cooperation as a part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the university and the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs in September.

On 3rd November 2017, the delegation had a meeting with Mr. Lam Quang Minh, Director of the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs. At the meeting, on behalf of the delegation, Dr. Satomi Iwashige expressed her gratitude to the Department and Mr. Lam for establishing the MOU with the university which would lay the foundation for further cooperation such as internship opportunities and other human resource exchange programs. She also extended her congratulations to Da Nang City for being chosen as the venue to host the APEC Economic Leaders' Week 2017. Particularly, she highly appreciated the APEC volunteer opportunities offered by the Department for her students.

Mr. Lam Quang Minh welcomed the delegation to the city and hoped that three interns from the University of Nagasaki could gain valuable experience during the APEC week. He also expressed his strong belief that in addition to working as volunteers, this would be a good chance for those students to discover the city and local culture and then to introduce the city image to their friends to build up a strong connection between the youth of the two cities.

On 8th November 2017, the delegation had a meeting with the Da Nang Department of Education and Training to have further discussion. Dr. Satomi Iwashige confirmed that Japan had been a new destination for Vietnamese students to study abroad, and the University of Nagasaki could be a good option for them to apply to study in Japan. As a result, she hoped the Department of Education and Training could support the university to connect to local students.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vinh, Director of the Da Nang Department of Education and Training, suggested some actions. He thought that the university could impress Vietnamese students learning Japanese in some Japanese language study institutes and schools in Da Nang by organizing Japanese speaking contests, offering short-term student exchange programs, dispatching Japanese teachers to high schools, sponsoring Japanese language study materials and so on. In addition, the Department of Education and Training facilitated the delegation's visit to Da Nang University and some local high schools in Da Dang City to promote further cooperation.

Meanwhile, under the supervision and support from the Department of Foreign Affairs, three intern students from the University of Nagasaki were involved in APEC related tasks to gather helpful experience for their internship. On the last day, they delivered their internship report to finish their internship program with the attendance of Mr. Lam Quang Minh and Ms. Le Thi Bich Thuan, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Education and Training.
